Reservation System in India
What
is reservation system?
The
reservation system in India comprises a series measures such as reserving seats
in the various legislature, higher educational institutions and all kind of
government jobs. Reservation is governed by constitutional laws, statutory
laws, and local rules and regulations. The Scheduled caste (SC), Scheduled
tribes (ST) and other backward classes (OBC), and in some states Backward
classes among Muslims under a category called BC(M), are the primary
beneficiaries of the reservation policies under the Constitution – with the
objective of ensuring a level playing field.
“I have only one question to our
Government- WHY?”
Today we live in a free country and our Constitution gives us
the right to freedom. It is the responsibility of the state to ensure that
equality to prevail in all sections of the society.
Reservation system is the measure
roadblock to this equality and development of India. Reservation are
anti-thesis of development and equality. India is an developing country and the
equality plays an key role in development of any country. In development of
India, there is many challenges and the reservation system is one of them.
Today reservation system is an
important issue for India and youth of India. On one hand the preamble of our
constitution states that we are free, democratic and sovereign nation and on
another hand reservation system is chaining all these aspects into its
clutches. It is creating disparity and differences among the people. The
constitution states that every child has a right to education. It is not
expresses that any child belonging to a backward class has a little more of
this right than the general category. By reserving one category against another
creates a feeling of devision.
“According
to Indianexpress and Indiatoday news : The University of Delhi has released the
cut off marks for the PhD admission to the department of mathematics 2017.
While the cut off for the unreserved categories was held at 94 percent, the cut
off for the OBC categories was at 84 percent and the cut off for the scheduled
caste and scheduled tribe categories was at ZERO.”
Wow what a great reservation system in India.
Means that candidate who doesn’t have any knowledge about doctorate or PhD can
take the doctorate degree. It sounds very funny. The candidate having 0 mark
have much more knowledge than that candidate who have 92 or 82 marks. Not only
in education but also in employment or job reservation system being a challenge
or problem for general candidates.
So for
making India a developed country it is necessary to stop this type of system
from our law. Because with this type of system we cannot developed or not make
India a developed country.
Yes, there should be a reservation
system for those who really need this system. There should be reservation
system for poor people who cannot afford higher education so provide them this
facility. Reservations on the basis of caste and not on the basis of condition
are bad and unacceptable. Fair and just reservation to uplift the people with
poor conditions of life, those who don’t have meals to eat, clothes to wear and
no home to live. We don’t need reservation based on caste or religion, we need
reservation based on condition and requirement. Merit should be given equal and
due importance in admission procedures as well as employment opportunities.
This way we would be successful in removing caste discrimination and unite the
economically rich together in helping the economically poor, irrespective to
their castes.
