Education System in India: Best or Worst?

Education plays an very important role in the growth and good living of everyone's life. It is also essential for the development of the country. If every citizen of the country is well educated then the future of the country is bright. Excellent education system always helps in improving the economy of the country and takes the country to the peak of success. Education is very important in every field to get success in life. Now, it’s all about the education and the role of the education in everyone life.

Let’s talk about education system in India. The Indian school education system is one of the largest and complex in the world. The complexity of the system stems from India's need to maintain standard and uniformity, while giving scope for its diverse culture and heritage to grow and flourish across the length and breadth of the country.  Indian government always shows his effort for education, but after that India is bit backward in the field of education compared to other countries. Indian government always introduced new way of learning and teaching for providing better education to everyone but still the Indian education system is not good compared to other countries because of some problems that are exist in our education system. In India, education system is failing day by day. If the education system is failing- then it is certainly not due to lack of demand for good education or because a market for education does not exist. Education system is failing because of intrinsic reasons. There are systemic faults that do not let our demand for good education translate into a great marketplace with excellent education services. To make effective education system it is important to understand and solve these problems.

The following are some prominent problems of Indian education system that legging it behind:

1- Lack of Practical Knowledge:  In Indian education system, lots of attention is given to theory and books. There is no practical knowledge, practical knowledge is completely ignored. Theory knowledge is helpful in getting marks and become topper in school and colleges not in real life. Practical knowledge helps students to get extra knowledge and help to do something different. Practical knowledge is very important to achieve success in life. In Indian education system practical knowledge is still far away from students.

2- Poor Education System: According to The National Policy on Education 1986 and The Programme of Action (POA) 1992 envisaged free and compulsory education of satisfactory quality for all children below 14 years before the 21st century. But in rural areas there is no such schools are available that provide good education. In rural areas, there is lack of good schools, lack of skilled teachers, lack of infrastructures, lack of dedication for teaching to the children etc.  So, to solve these problems the necessary action should be taken by the government of India.

3- Reservation System in Education:  Reservation system in education system is worst rule. The education system should give equal chance to all students for education.  In Indian education system, seats are reserved for reserved cast but another side the scenario has become a challenge for the general caste people who sometimes have faced lots of problems in exam due to the reservation system. By reservation system, less knowledgeable student who belongs to the reserved caste can get admission in schools, colleges or universities instead of higher knowledgeable student of general caste. In education system,” there should be reservation for poor student who cannot afford higher education”.

4- Meaning of Education: Today the meaning of education is completely changed. Now, education means gain good rank and grades. School and colleges are there for slashing their meritorious student who earned good grades and thus attract some other kids and make them fit only for good but nothing else. Each and every word related to education is completely redefined for profit purpose. The system is completely downgraded just for the profit of some large bigshots but not for the benefit of students.

5-Rate Race: In India, education is a rate race. In India, education is not for the faint hearted. Every student is in the race for gaining good rank and grades. They didn’t gather any practical knowledge. Today, for taking admission in colleges and schools, the percentage should be above than 95%. Therefor students forget taking practical knowledge and they start race for marks and grades. Rote learning still plagues our system, students study only to score marks in exams and sometimes to crack exams like IIT JEE, AIIMS or CLAT.

These are the prominent problems that should be changed in our Education system to make best education system in the world. We live in a country where the people see education as the means of climbing the social and economic ladder. So it is necessary to solve all the prominent problems for growth of employment and development of India.
