6 Reasons Why Goal Setting Is Important - Youthsaddaa

Now we all know that we have superpowers and the next step is to start taking charge of our life. It is time to decide what you want to do. Most of us never think of setting any goals. We prefer to go with the flow.
Goal setting is the first step of successful goal achievement. It marks your first point toward success. It’s when you switch from a passive state to being involved in life.
Understanding the importance of goal setting and knowing how to set goals for yourself is crucial to accomplishing great things in your life. Here are 6 important reasons why you need to set goals for yourself:

1.     Goals Help In Planning:
If you want to be productive in life, you need to think of things in terms of projects. And as in any project, you need to plan and execute in a way that you achieve the predetermined result within the decided timeframe. A goal helps you do just that. It helps in planning your moves in a way so that you can achieve what you want to achieve in time.

2.     Goals Prevent Distraction
It is easy to get distracted when you do not have a deadline looming or when you do not have a definite plan with timelines. Having a goal help you stay focused.
Bill Copeland, American poet, writer, and historian, said:“ The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.”

3.     Goals Give Us A Purpose
When you have goal in sight, and you know what you have to do and how you have to do it, your entire demeanor changes. You go about your life confidentially, and are almost never confused or undecided. It gives you a sense o pride and that shows in how you carry yourself. It gives you a good reason to wake up in the morning. It keeps you away idle wanderings of the mind that can be very dangerous in the long run. Having a goal is not only good for your professional growth, it is important for your spiritual and mental growth too.

4.     Goals Make Us Accountable
Accountability means an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility and to be responsible for one’s actions and their results. When we set a goal for ourselves we make ourselves accountable to finish the task in the given time. We can no longer give excuses or work as per our convenience. We are pushed to chalk out a course of action and adhere to it. Whether or not we achieve our goal becomes our responsibility.

5.     Goals Are A Source of Enthusiasm
When we set a goal for ourselves, we automatically start imagining our lives after we have achieved the goal or the impact our achieving the goal can have on others. Sense of purpose, along with accountability and excitement, are enough to transform you as a person. This is enough to fill your life with positive energy.

6.     Goals Keep Us Going
Fixing a goal means that we endeavor to reach its end within a finite time by setting deadlines. Once the task starts we tend to see our progress on day-to-day basis. We are constantly aware of what we have done so far and how long it would take to complete the rest. This constant planning keeps us going.

Indeed, without goals we end up wasting a lot of time in fruitless activities. It is more challenging to keep ourselves motivated and in a positive frame of mind. Without goals, it is impossible to measure our progress as a human being, as a student, as a professional, or as anyone in any field or stage of life. Without goals, it is impossible to stay focused. Without goals, we are all drifters. With goals, we are in charge.
